SIMOPS Operations

SIMOPs (Simultaneous Operations) in the oil and gas industry refer to two or more operations being conducted at the same time within the same area, facility, or asset—such as drilling, construction, production, well intervention, hot work, lifting operations, marine activities, or chemical handling. Because these activities may interact physically, mechanically, or organizationally, they create combined and overlapping hazards that can significantly increase risk if not properly managed. Effective SIMOPs management focuses on identifying conflicts, coordinating involved parties, establishing permit controls, and implementing communication lines to ensure safe coexistence of operations.
